Voice News Network spoke with Dr. Gurjit Bajwa, a longtime Emergency Physician at Etobicoke General Hospital, ahead of the 13th Annual William Osler Health System Foundation Holi Gala, one of the region’s most significant community fundraising events dedicated to strengthening hospital care across Brampton and the wider Peel Region. The annual celebration continues to play an important role in supporting investments that help local hospitals provide timely and high quality care close to home for thousands of families.
Dr. Bajwa has served patients in the community for nearly two decades and has remained closely connected to the William Osler Health System Foundation throughout that time. His involvement with the foundation spans more than ten years, reflecting a strong commitment to supporting improvements in emergency services and frontline care. Through his clinical work and volunteer leadership, he has helped highlight the importance of community participation in building stronger local health infrastructure.
He also previously served as Co Chair of the Holi Gala committee for five years, helping expand the reach and impact of the event. During that period, the gala grew into one of the foundation’s signature cultural fundraising initiatives, bringing together donors, physicians, business leaders, and community members who share a common goal of supporting patient care in Brampton, Etobicoke, and surrounding communities.
The Holi Gala Festival of Colours, presented by BVD Group, continues to celebrate South Asian culture while raising essential funds that support hospital equipment, services, and patient programs across the William Osler Health System network. The event has become a major platform for community engagement and philanthropy, reflecting the strong connection between cultural celebration and community health investment across the Greater Toronto Area.
The 13th Annual Holi Gala will take place on April 11, 2026 at the Pearson Convention Center and continues its mission of helping ensure world class care remains available for families across Brampton, Etobicoke, and the broader Peel Region. Dr. Bajwa emphasized the importance of community participation and support, encouraging residents to stay involved and contribute to initiatives that strengthen local hospital services. Voice News Network will continue providing coverage of community health initiatives and events across the GTA.
